RESUMEN
This work han been made in 20 improved males guinea pigs from 8 weeks to one year old, proceeding from Tingo Maria. We performed the description, totography, weight anda measurments of the following organs:
Mandibular 1ymph nodes are craneals and caudals. Craneals nodes are found behind the border of the mandibular simphysis and consist from two to four nodes and can be fused. Caudals nodes are generally uniques and are related to the level of the intermediate tendon of the digastric muscle.
Medial retropharyngeal lymph nodes can be two in each side, they are covered or included in the parotid gland and/or covered by the mandibular salivary gland. Their dimensions differ greatly.
Parotid lymph node is very small, it lies at the base of the pinna of the ear and is related to the lateral surface of the parotd gland.
Bucal lymph node is unique and very small, it is related laterally to the pad of the cheek. Superficial ventral cervical lymph node lies near the base of the neck between the sternohyoid and sternothyroid muscles.
The lymph nodes from other structures by thier yellowish color and smooth surface. Thymus is a bilobulated organ, it lies just below the subcutaneous fat of the ventral region of the neck.
Thyroid gland consists of right and left lobes, they are adhered to the lateral surface of the first four to seven tracheal rings. Isthmus was not observed.
Adrenal glands are oval and related to the craneal pole of each kidney and to the cruses of the diaphragm. The left gland has a furrow in its ventral surface, which gives it a lobulated appearance.
Testis are two very big organs in relation to the size of the animal; the direction of the major axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body; its craneal extremity is related to a developed fat body. Epididymis is a tubular structure that runs along the dorsomedial border of the testis; the sinus is located in medial position.
The histologic image of the lymphoid organs of the head and neck did not show main differences with that of other species.
Thyroid gland revealed a follicular epithelium with variations in its height.
The histologic section of the adrenal gland let us observed three zones in its cortex. The glomerular, glomerular, fasciculated and reticular.
