Geographical Distribution: The distribution of the species was obtained from literature and herbal reports within the province of Loreto, between 0 and 500 m above sea level. in flood-prone areas of the Peruvian Amazon.
The tree: 30 m tall, 60 cm diameter. Round trunk, 8-cm think visible roots which raise 1.5 m above the ground. Balloon-like top. The surface of the bark depicts longitudinal, long cracks, 3 to 5 cm apart. Fibrous, compact, soft main bark in two layers: a fibrous outer one with packs of dark-red grain than narrow inside, and a yellowish-gray inner one containing abundant pores or canals along which a crystal yellowish glue runs.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WOOD
Color: When the trunk is freshly cut, sapwood (alburnum) is white and hardwood (duramen) is red and irregular. Slight and gradual contrast of colors between both layers When dried in open air, alburnum turns very pale brown HUE 7/4 10YR and duramen turns reddish yellow HUE 6/6 5YR. (Munsell Soil Color Charts).
Fragrance Non-distinctive.
Shine or gloss Moderate to medium.
Grain Straight.
Texture Medium.
Streaks or patterns: Good definition, overlapped arches, parallel dark vertical bands.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Cedrillo is a moderately heavy type of wood, showing low linear shrinkage and moderately stable volumetric shrinkage.
Mechanical resistance is in the limit of medial and high ranks.

TECHNICAL ADVICE
Wood is easy to saw, good performance when worked on a plane, sanded and glued.
Difficulty for drying, risk of collapse. Natural drying process lasts an average of 75 days. When dried in open air, as well as in an oven, superficial cracks appear.
Due to its low natural durability, it is prone to fungus. Preservation is advisable.

USES
The wood is used in indoor carpentry, wood panels, ceilings, cabinet work and furniture.
